Vision For the Future

BIG SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH

Rest Your Mind, Revitalize Your Worship, Refresh Your Spirit

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

   - John 7:38 (KJV)

Revitalize Your

WORSHIP

Inspired Music and Ministry

The Worship service at Big Springs is a simple formula: Eager and open hearts ready to give praise in song. Our goal is to lift up the Savior, and give the honor and glory to him - that we might be revitalized in our spirit. Michael Mimier, the worship leader, and his worship team are truly anointed in this ministry.

Whole Heart Praise

At Big Springs Baptist, it is our desire to worship God with genuine sincerity and praise his son, Jesus, with our songs and testimony. As the Psalmist wrote:

"I will praise the, O Lord with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works."

Our worship service is a place where you can refresh your soul in his love. Get a glimpse of the praise and worship at Big Springs.

Worship for All Ages

Worship at Big Springs is not an exclusive affair. Children and seniors are active in our worship service. The children's praise team and choir often kick off our worship, and they are never shy about lifting their voice for the Lord. All age groups are welcome at Big Springs - whosoever will.

About Big Springs Church

Meager Start to a Master Plan
The Story of Little Beginnings of Big Springs

After nine years as pastor of the Faith First Congregational Methodist Church in Walnut Grove, AL, Rev. Russell Golden felt God leading him in a new and exciting direction. Rev. Golden and his family had enjoyed tremendous success in spreading the gospel at Faith Church: Only a few years earlier they had completed a new sanctuary, had been featured on a local Trinity Broadcasting affiliate, and were starting a new phone ministry to reach out to a new segment of the community. It was a bitter sweet departure, but just as so many times before - Russell Golden knew - where God leads he must follow.

His call was now to begin a mission church in Guntersville, AL. With no funds, no experience in starting mission churches, and only the knowledge it was the Lord's will, he and his wife, Yvonne, began this new chapter.

The work began with a search for a location in which to hold worship services. Eventually, a small three room store front was found in a small strip mall on Henry Street near the center of town. The building needed a lot of work before services could be held, and there was practically no budget for improvements. As would prove to be the case throughout the Church's story, God was on time with all the necessary provision. The owner of the building volunteered to provide the improvements at his own expense. Others would donate material, equipment, and services - transforming a dilapidated storage room into the cozy birth place of a new and vibrant ministry.

On February 8th, 1998, the first official service christened the new church. A small sanctuary boasting concrete floors was filled with some 30 folding chairs (donated by Christian friends), and a carpet was placed beneath a makeshift altar - making it slightly more comfortable for those who knelt in prayer. Worship was led using a sing-a-long cassette player and an ancient electric studio piano on loan that had a few malfunctioning keys. A borrowed, homemade pulpit served as the lectern as Pastor Golden delivered the first sermon to the new flock of 5.

Despite these meager surroundings and tiny congregation, the reassuring presence of the Spirit of God was evidence that this work was His will; and that much greater things were yet to come...

Welcome to Big Springs Baptist Church and thank you for visiting our website. We are so excited you chose to take a look at our family.

Big Springs Baptist Church was founded on a vision for Christ in 1998.  It is great to be a part of a Bible believing church that holds the truths of God's word as its foundation. Our goal is to be a vibrant family of believers in Christ, ready to help others, as we grow together in the kingdom of God.

We invite you to join us anytime for worship or any of the many events our church family offers.

The fellowship is warm and welcoming, the worship is sincere and the spirit of God is demonstrated in a mighty way.  It is time Christians got back to worshiping our LORD, the one and only true God.

I Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and hath many members and all the members of that one body being many are one body so also is Christ.  Every person needs to be a part of a church family.  We invite you to be a part of our family and grow in the body of Christ.

I will be presenting a new article at the beginning of each month on our church family and the great work that God is doing at Big Springs Baptist Church.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Russell Golden
